The Garden Level was strategically named after the Norma Pfriem Healing Garden installation on the same floor and displays artwork resembling components of a garden in bloom. Upon entering the Cancer Center Lobby, visitors are greeted with brightly colored works on paper and oil paintings of florals, landscapes, and abstracts meant to inspire happy and energetic feelings. In addition, siblings of select artwork from the Smilow Cancer Hospital Art Collection are featured, preserving the style of the Yale New Haven Health Art Collection as a whole.

"As a gift to my grandfather Dr. Alexander William Evans (1868 - 1959). He was a professor in Yale's Botany department and world authority on Lichens. His past work is invaluable today at Yale and his research lives on to help and understand our environment today.
In loving tribute, Catherine M Elliott - Fine Artist"
