The figurative artwork created by the 5th Graders at Toquam Elementary School were inspired by poems written by the most creative African American individuals in the Harlem Renaissance. These well-known poems include “Dream Variations” by Langston Hughes, “Still I Rise” by Maya Angelou, and “In the Land of Words” by Eloise Greenfield.
