Richard T. Patton IV

Richard Thomas Patton IV was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1985. As a young boy he showed an interest and talent in drawing, that would later be realized and developed as an adult. In 2010, Richard obtained his Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design from Western Connecticut State University, School of Visual and Performing Arts.

“After graduation, life lead me to painting. My work is spiritual to the point it becomes a form of prayer, meditation, and a release for me. My work represents emotions, feelings, and everyday experiences frozen in time." His African and Hispanic heritage are also seen throughout his work. With his roots in abstract expressionism and action painting, Richard has been influenced and inspired by artists such as Romare Bearden, Jackson Pollock,Williem De Kooning, Salvador Dali, and Picasso. Painting takes me back to my beginnings as a child where my mind and imagination are completely free and my creativity can run wild. It allows me to express my true emotions and feelings from my subconscious and give my perspective on the world and how I see it. It is a beautiful thing!” - Richard T. Patton IV
